Punta Arenas, Chile, jul 4 - jul 6, 2012
The bus ride from Ushuaia, Argentina to Punta Arenas, Chile was lovely. After crossing the Magellan Channel and leaving Tierra del Fuego behind us we got first glimpses at Patagonia. We saw lovely flat farm lands, sheep and geese while driving on the snow covered street with no other sign of civilization. Punta Arenas is a decent sized town with cute coffee shops and some nice restaurants. We only had one day here, but we definitely enjoyed our time at the waterfront looking at cormorants and old ships. Unfortunately the local penguin colonies migrate for the winter so we could not visit them this time.
